Mina Bakhtiari
her story
I was born in March 1984 in Tehran, Iran a vast megacity defined by dense urbanism and architecture. Growing up surrounded by buildings and city life gave me a lifelong craving for nature, which is why landscape painting has always held a special place in my practice. In 2022, I migrated to the UK with my family, and since 2023 I have been living in Darlington with my husband and my older son, and recently a newborn son. Alongside being a mother, I bring a professional background of over ten years in architecture and Master's degree in psychology. These experiences shape the way I see balance, form, and human connection in my work, while painting remains my deepest passion and creative outlet.
Since arriving in the UK, I have exhibited my work in Darlington and sold more than 70 paintings in less than two years. My belief is that original art should be both accessible and affordable, allowing everyone the opportunity to bring colour, texture, and individuality into their homes.
I work exclusively with palette knife, embracing its freedom and the rich, tactile surfaces it creates. My paintings are not only visual but also sensory - I actively encourage people, especially children, to touch the textured surfaces and engage with the works on a deeper level.
Inspired by light, colour, and the natural world, my paintings are both expressive and structured, echoing my architectural roots while offering: space for emotion and imagination. I also welcome commissions, particularly landscapes, and enjoy transforming personal photographs into textured, lasting artworks.
